Slide Furniture
Navigation tabs on a slide—content or furniture?
✅ NormativeSettled. The requirement holds as written.📄 Page ruleCan be applied from the page alone.Read §5.10 in the RFC ↗
Every printed navigation tab of a slide MUST be transcribed, in printed order, as furniture, and a highlight that identifies the active section MUST be kept with the highlight convention. Labels printed on a photograph MUST be kept with the photograph's description; purely decorative background art MUST NOT be described.
When it applies
Presentation decks print things around their content that a document does not: a row of section tabs along the top edge with the current one highlighted, name labels overlaid on photographs, a running footer with the deck name and slide number.
Reading the examples. Each one pairs a source page with the output the rule expects. ✅ Sample: the rule applies. ❌ Counter-sample: it looks like it applies and does not, or a rendering got it wrong. A non-conforming output, in red, is shown only for contrast. … marks content left out of an excerpt.

a map behind the text
A pale, wavy background shape fills the right-hand card behind two headings and six bullets. It prints no text, no values and no labels, so it yields no Markdown. The left card is a stat tile over a small table — see Stat Tiles (§5.11).
